This is the final day of a 7-day prayer guide for South Africa. Start with Day 1 here.
Day 7 · Repairers of the Ruins
“They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations.”
Isaiah 61:4 (ESV)
Reflection
Isaiah speaks of a people who rebuild what generations of devastation left behind. Our nation carries ruins of many generations: in relationships between races, in communities and in trust. Reconciliation is not forgetting. It is building together.
We pray
- For healing of our racial wounds, and that no voice, inside or outside our borders, would succeed in turning South Africans against one another.
- Lord, raise up repairers in every community: in churches, schools, workplaces and families.
- Father, give us a shared future where every South African can flourish, belong and hope.
A Closing Prayer
Father, this land is Yours. Its people are Yours. Its future is in Your hands. Where we have been divided, make us one. Where we have been wounded, heal us. Where we have been afraid, steady us. Let truth, justice and peace be the foundations we build on, for our children and our children’s children.
Nkosi, sikelel’ iAfrika. Lord, bless Africa.
In the name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
