This is Day 5 of a 7-day prayer guide for South Africa. Start with Day 1 here.
Day 5 · Our Trust Is in the Lord
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.”
Psalm 20:7 (ESV)
Reflection
Ancient nations trusted in chariots and horses; modern nations trust in markets, currencies and powerful allies. Pressure from beyond our borders can make a nation fearful, but the psalmist reminds us where true security rests.
We pray
- For steadiness in our economy and currency, and protection from pressures that would destabilise the livelihoods of ordinary families.
- Lord, raise up wise, calm and honest negotiators for every trade and diplomatic conversation.
- Father, teach us as a nation to place our ultimate trust not in any superpower, but in You.
Amen. Join us tomorrow for Day 6: Let Justice Roll Down.
