Day 4 · A Land Whose Stones Are Iron
“A land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper.”
Deuteronomy 8:9 (ESV)
Reflection
God described the Promised Land partly by the wealth hidden beneath its surface. South Africa, too, is rich in what lies underground: gold, platinum, manganese and more. Wealth drawn from the earth is meant to bless the people of the land, not only those who extract it.
We pray
- For protection of our natural wealth from exploitation, theft and unfair agreements.
- Lord, grant wisdom and integrity in every mining licence, contract and trade agreement, and keep our miners safe.
- Father, let the riches of our soil reach mining communities and the poor as jobs, restored land and lasting provision.
