Prosper Me Your Way

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Father,
today I surrender one word:

Prosper.

I surrender my definition of it.
I surrender what I thought prosperity was supposed to look like.

I surrender the picture.
I surrender the sequence.
I surrender the milestones.
I surrender the titles.
I surrender the timetable.

I surrender the evidence I thought I would need before I could say:
God has been good to me.

Because Your Word does not say,
“For you know the plans I have for you.”

You say:
“For I know.”

You know.

And perhaps that is enough for today.

You Know

Father,
there are seasons when You give clarity.
There are moments when You allow us to see something ahead.

You give vision.
You give instruction.
You give strategy.
You give understanding.

And then there are Abraham moments.

Go.
And I will show you.

Take the step.
And I will show you.

Leave what is familiar.
And I will show you.

Follow Me without possessing the entire map.

And Father,
I think I am learning that both require faith.

Faith when You show me.
And faith when You don’t.

Wisdom to understand the times.
And trust when I cannot.

So perhaps my prayer does not always need to be:
“Lord, show me the whole plan.”

Perhaps sometimes it can simply be:
“Lord, I trust that You know it.”

You know where this season leads.
You know what I will learn here.
You know how long I will stay.
You know who I will meet.
You know what skills will awaken.
You know what doors will open.
You know what doors should remain closed.
You know what this season is preparing me for.

You know.

And today,
I rest there.

Perhaps This Is Prosperity Too

Maybe prosperity sometimes looks like discovering:

There was nothing wrong with the gift.
It simply needed somewhere to serve.

There are capabilities in me that were dormant in another environment.

Not absent.
Dormant.

Skills that were not being called upon.
Strengths that were not necessary there.
Parts of me that weren’t being stretched.

And suddenly,
I am in an environment where something is pulling them out.

And it isn’t difficult.
It feels natural.

Father,
thank You for that.

Thank You for giving me an opportunity to discover myself differently.
Thank You for allowing old skills to breathe again.
Thank You for allowing experience accumulated over years to become useful in a new context.
Thank You for reminding me that something being unused does not mean it disappeared.

And Lord,
keep me humble.

Today I refuse to despise what is in my hands
because it doesn’t resemble what was in my imagination.

I am thankful for what I have.
And I will steward it.

I will learn.
I will contribute.
I will prepare.
I will bring excellence.
I will give this assignment the competence and dedication it deserves.

Not because I know where it leads.
But because it is where my feet are today.

I Surrender My Definition of Prosperity

Father,
prosper me.
But prosper me Your way.

If prosperity means greater responsibility,
teach me to carry it.

If prosperity means deeper peace,
give me capacity to receive it.

If prosperity means learning,
make me teachable.

If prosperity means financial increase,
make me generous.

If prosperity means influence,
strengthen my character.

If prosperity means visibility,
keep me humble.

If prosperity means hidden preparation,
keep me faithful.

If prosperity means a door opening,
give me courage to walk through it.

If prosperity means a door closing,
give me enough trust not to force it.

If prosperity means staying,
teach me to stay.

If prosperity means moving,
teach me to move.

If prosperity means something completely outside my current imagination—
enlarge me enough to receive it.

I don’t want to force Your promise into my vocabulary.
Teach me Yours.

I Was Never Alone

Father,
there is something else I am beginning to understand again.

I am not alone.

And for me,
that is prosperity.

You have always been my Father.

When I look back over my life,
there were seasons that were extraordinarily painful.
There were seasons when I didn’t understand what You were doing.
There were prayers that did not receive the answer I desperately wanted.

And yet,
I knew You were there.

But there were also moments when I asked:
Where are You, God?
Have You forgotten me?
Am I somewhere I shouldn’t be?
Why isn’t this making sense?

And lately,
I feel something returning.

That awareness.
That quiet tug.
That familiar assurance:

You are not alone.

And Father,
I don’t want to rush past that.

Because that is prosperity.

To walk through uncertainty
and know I am accompanied—
prosperity.

To have questions
without feeling abandoned—
prosperity.

To not know the future
and still know the One walking with me—
prosperity.

Thank You That the Pain Is Changing

And Father,
today I can say something I couldn’t always say:

The pain is changing.

The disappointment does not have the same hold.

The question:
Why didn’t my life unfold the way I thought it would?
does not sting in quite the same way.

I made choices.

There were moments when opportunities appeared to come with costs I wasn’t willing to pay.
And I chose according to what I believed honoured You.

There were times when I wondered:
Why aren’t these choices producing the fruit I expected?

But today,
I don’t need to prosecute that case anymore.

I don’t need to keep putting my history on trial.
I don’t need to keep asking whether every decision cost me something.

I am here.
You are here.
There is still future.
There is still future.

Jeremiah says:
Hope.
And a future.

So I refuse to behave as though my future ended simply because one version of it did not happen.

And Then There Was This Weekend

Father,
thank You for this weekend.

I don’t think I fully understand everything I experienced yet.
And perhaps I don’t need to.

I went to the conference.
I had not originally planned everything the way it unfolded.
But I felt drawn to be there.

So I went.

I worshipped.
I listened.
I received.

And later,
when I joined the evening service from home,
there was a moment in prayer that felt deeply significant to me.

The prayer wasn’t even being spoken by me.
I was receiving it.

But as I listened,
something in me was praying too.

Something in me became aware of my family.
Something in me experienced that moment as bigger than myself.

And Father,
I don’t want to rush to explain everything.
I don’t need to turn every spiritual experience immediately into a prediction.

I can hold it reverently.
I can test things over time.
I can watch.
I can pray.
I can remain grounded.

And I can simply say:

Thank You for meeting me.
Thank You for the sense of Your presence.
Thank You for the prayer.
Thank You for what it awakened in me concerning my family.
Thank You for the hope it produced.

I don’t need to manufacture a conclusion about everything that happened.

Perhaps months from now I will understand this weekend differently.
Perhaps I won’t.

Either way:
Thank You for the weekend You gave me.

That too is prosperity.

I Don’t Need to Know the Shape Yet

Father,
this may be the deepest prayer today.

I trust a plan whose shape I cannot yet see.

I don’t know what all of this becomes.
I don’t know what the next five years become.
I don’t know what relationships become.
I don’t know what opportunities become.
I don’t know which gifts will become central.
I don’t know which dreams will change.
I don’t know which dreams will be fulfilled exactly as I imagined.

I don’t know.

But You know.

“For I know the plans I have for you.”

You know.

And the God who knows
is the God who has walked with me.

The God who knows
is the God who sustained me.

The God who knows
is the God whose presence sat with me in grief.

The God who knows
is the God who carried me through disappointment.

The God who knows
is the God who is meeting me now.

So I don’t need to know everything You know
in order to trust You.

Prosper Me in Ways I Can Recognise

Father,
give me eyes for prosperity.

Because I don’t want to spend my life praying for something
while overlooking its arrival because it came wearing different clothes.

A peaceful mind—prosperity.
A healthy body—prosperity.
Wisdom—prosperity.
A meaningful friendship—prosperity.
A good night’s sleep—prosperity.

Being able to receive correction—prosperity.
Being teachable—prosperity.
Having enough—prosperity.
Having something to give—prosperity.

A restored relationship—prosperity.
A prayer answered quietly—prosperity.
An invitation that places me somewhere my soul needed to be—prosperity.
Sitting in my home and experiencing Your presence—prosperity.
Knowing that I am not alone—prosperity.

Father,
don’t let me become so fixated on one manifestation of blessing
that I become blind to a blessed life.

And Still, Give Me Hope for the Future

But Father,
surrendering my definition of prosperity does not mean surrendering hope.

Your Word says:
Hope and a future.

So I hope.
I hope boldly.
I hope for things I cannot see yet.

I hope for work that matters.
I hope for greater impact.
I hope for healthy relationships.
I hope for family.
I hope for healing.
I hope for provision.
I hope for purpose.
I hope for joy.

I hope for years that surprise me.
I hope for opportunities that I don’t currently know exist.
I hope for gifts in me that I haven’t yet discovered.
I hope for rooms I haven’t entered.
I hope for people I haven’t met.
I hope for things I don’t yet have language to ask You for.

But my hope is not tied to my blueprint.

My hope is tied to You.

Today, I Am Thankful

So today,
I don’t want to finish by asking for something else.

Today,
I want to say:

Thank You.

Thank You for structure.
Thank You for order.
Thank You for gifts that still work.
Thank You for abilities I had forgotten about.
Thank You for skills being awakened.

Thank You for the conference.
Thank You for worship.
Thank You for prayer.
Thank You for my family.
Thank You for hope.
Thank You for Your presence.
Thank You for being with me.

Thank You that even when I don’t know the plan—
You do.

And Father,
today I surrender my definition of prosper.

Prosper me Your way.
Lead me Your way.
Develop me Your way.
Bless me Your way.
Surprise me Your way.

And give me enough spiritual sight to recognise Your goodness when it arrives differently from what I expected.

I don’t need the blueprint tonight.
I have the Architect.

I don’t need to see the entire road.
I know the One walking with me.

And perhaps today,
that is one of the richest definitions of prosperity I know:

I am not alone.
You are with me.
There is hope.
There is a future.
And You know the plans.

So I trust You.

In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
