Was listening to a song on my way to work this morning with lyrics. “OUR MELODY IS OUR WEAPON.” …..thinking to myself, really God how can a melody be enough. Two scriptures came to mind.
“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty” 1 Corinthians 1:27 KJV.
For the weapons of our warfare are not [a]carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NKJV)
Was also reminded that while Paul and Silas were singing praises to God the foundations of the prison began to shake. Then one of my favourate verses came to life again. In Isaiah 54 God says : “Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the LORD.
I’ve always been fascinated by a God who calls the broken and barren to breakout in songs of victory, when earthly wisdom says singing is for those who are already rejoicing. So my prayer for you this morning, actually my prayer for us all is we will do just that. May God give us a song of victory through our trials in 2019.
Be blessed
