Navigating Divine Promises: A Reflection on the Patience of Mary and Abraham

Try stepping into Mary’s or Abraham’s shoes for a moment:

“I’m having the son of God, surely there must be some unique aspect to this pregnancy. Maybe it should be shorter than the typical nine months. God, create a one-of-a-kind spectacle out of this experience. Surely, God has set aside a luxurious suite for the birth of His child.”

“Or consider Abraham, I’ve shared space with an angel. God has assured me of a future populous lineage. Certainly, Sarah will be expecting by tomorrow’s sunrise!”

Well, these are merely my own conjectures, not the actual thoughts of Mary or Abraham. If I were in their place, I’d expect things to be simple, given the divine nature of the promise! However, reality paints a vastly different picture.

During my drive between meetings today, these reflections kept me grounded – encouraging me to keep hold of God’s pledges. Just because things don’t unfold according to my schedule or in the way I’ve envisioned, doesn’t mean they are not ordained by God.

As I navigate through this period, I pray for divine enlightenment to grant me the patience to wait on Him.

There’s a peculiar beauty hidden within periods of uncertainty. What promises has God made to you? Do not abandon your faith in these promises just because the path is challenging!
