Music is one of the divine channels by which I feel the Lord’s comforting presence. As many already know, allergies have been a persistent adversary in my life, and this has been a particularly tough week. All I wanted while driving home was to medicate, get some rest, and hopefully wake up better tomorrow. I try to avoid taking my medications during the day as they tend to make me drowsy.
In the midst of all this, the Lord orchestrated a delightful surprise. A good friend of mine “Pitsi”, who I’ve missed for a while, sent me a link to a special song out of nowhere! When I reached home, I immediately checked my messages and listened to this fortuitously received song.
The music stirred something within me and reduced the burden of illness I was feeling. Although I still have traces of the fever, the frustrating heaviness that had accompanied me throughout the day seemed to evaporate. The song redirected my focus to Jesus, and it was undoubtedly uplifting.
I now find myself wanting to send spontaneous messages or make calls the moment someone crosses my mind. Perhaps these impulses are God’s call for me to serve as an agent of encouragement. We often entertain ambitions of wanting to be used by God but tend to overlook the seemingly insignificant tasks. We fail to realize that even the smallest gesture, when harnessed in God’s service, can lead to extraordinary results.
Like when God instructed Moses to lift his staff! Can you imagine how different things would’ve been if Moses had perceived this assignment as trivial given the invincible might of Egypt’s armies?
So, what is God nudging you to do today? It might appear insignificant to you, but remember, it could be incredibly powerful in His hands.
The lyrics of the song, by Jesus Culture, were:
Oh Lord, you’re beautiful,
Your face is all I seek.
When your eyes gaze upon this child,
Your grace overflows onto me.
I wish to disseminate your word far and wide,
But first, let it transform my own life, Lord.
When things are good, teach me not to seek any praise,
For my real reward lies in giving all the glory to you.
